THE CLIMATE

The Climate heritage Game (2021-2022)

The goal of this project is through the development of the digital Climate Heritage Game, to improve educators’ and students’ digital skills and to create awareness, educate and enhance active citizenship of participants regarding the effects of climate change on cultural heritage which will lead to overall positive changes of behavior regarding the respect of the environment and the protection of cultural sites, in the future.

The enhancement of teachers’ and students’ digital skills and all target groups’ awareness about Climate Change in the context of Cultural Heritage are important European priorities and through this transnational project will be addressed more cooperatively and systematically for impactful results. The cooperation and understanding of the
challenges of Climate Change and the importance of preservation of our Cultural Heritage have to be tackled in unison from all European countries to have the greatest possibility of success.

This multifaceted project has the ambition and means to tackle three important issues at once: Teachers’ and students’ digital skills preparation for a challenging future, Cultural Heritage knowledge and connection at a local and European level and Climate Change sensitivity development and creation of active reflexes for future mitigation of the problem.

Our carefully designed activities and the experienced partners of the Climate Heritage Game project will lead to the following results:

  • Improvement of digital skills of both Teachers and students who will gain new digital skills namely those of Game Development and creation of digital content such as videos,
photographs and Game scripts, through well designed and organised activities.
  • Teachers and students will gain knowledge about their local Heritage Sites and their contribution to their habitat’s wellbeing, touristic interest and incorporation in cultural life, through
    specific tasks and activities.
  • Teachers and students will become more interested, aware and involved in Climate Change mitigation in their own location and at a local context through specific tasks and activities
    of the project.
  • Parents and local communities will be sensitized to the problem of Climate Heritage through the dissemination of the project.
  • The project will become a benchmark not only at local and regional but also at a european level.

The above results will be achieved through the following project activities:

  • O1. Training Course on how to develop a digital game for Educational Purposes
Creation of a Training Course on how to develop a game for Educational Purposes that can be used in the context of this project as well as by any other teacher or trainer who wishes
to enrich his or her teaching toolbox for a more engaging, captivating and fun way to transfer knowledge to his or her students.
  • O2. The Climate Heritage Game
The Climate Heritage Game itself will remain as a valuable tool and open educational for all European teachers to use in their classrooms and teaching curricula, to upload their own
material such as Videos, photographs, information and questions about their local Cultural heritage and the effects of Climate Change in their own areas.
